YAF GHANA is excited to partner with Michigan State University to introduce a brand-new, student-led, virtual coding club in Fall 2022!
The MSU x YAFGHANA Coding Club will introduce students in Ghana to the fundamentals of Computer Science and Information Technology. Combining games and mini-projects with guest speakers and team-building activities, our club is more than just another extracurricular—it’s a community. We believe coding should be fun, and we aim to make it so!
Programming will run for 8 weeks, beginning Saturday, October 8, 2022, and ending Saturday, December 3, 2022. Meetings will be held once weekly: from 2 pm – 4 pm GMT (10 am-12 pm EDT) each Saturday morning. All meetings will be held virtually on Zoom.
To maintain an optimal student-instructor ratio, we may need to limit registrations. If necessary, we will prioritize students who have had fewer experiences with coding, come from a school district that does not offer programming courses, or come from a community that is underrepresented in computing. As such, submitting this form indicates interest in the MSU x YAFGHANA Coding Club but does not guarantee a seat in the program.
Notifications of acceptance will be sent no later than September 20, 2022, and will include instructions for completing registration. Students not accepted in the first round will be placed on a waiting list, and will be offered the opportunity to register if students accepted in the first round do not complete their registration by September 25, 2022.
