The smile when you know you’ve given it your all and come out on top😄. Today, the entire YAF Ghana family celebrates Gregory Oppong and Theophilus Kwame Dapper for their outstanding academic accomplishments and acceptance into Brandeis University and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill respectively.
Gregory, a graduate of Opoku Ware School (AKATAKYIE), was awarded the prestigious Wien International Scholarship at Brandeis University valued at $338,000.00 over four years. Theophilus, a graduate of Tema Secondary School, was selected as an Honors Carolina Scholar and received the Carolina Innovation Scholarship valued at $230,000.00 over 4 years.
Both scholars share one thing in common; which is their interest to use their education to tackle some of the most pressing issues the world faces today. Theophilus is a Co-founder of Dvashmall, a small start-up working to address the issues of processed food wastage in Ghana. He hopes to continue to explore his passion for environmental studies through research and hands-on learning opportunities.
Gregory is passionate about studying biochemistry and exploring the field of genetic engineering. He’s keen on using his education to research and helps battle most genetic disorders (particularly sickle cell) which often go ignored in most parts of the developing world.
We’re truly excited to see these two scholars achieve such personal milestones. We wish them all the best in their academic journey.
