Learn More About Ahmed’s Journey:
A son of a porridge seller, I would wake up at dawn to assist my mom and carry buckets full of hot porridge on my head to the bus stop. That was my morning routine. In a community like New Bortianor, it is easy to lose sight of one’s potential. Still, I never stopped my ever-wondering mind from pondering on the mysteries of our world and the many invisible factors that form the foundation of who we are. The best human traits were developed outside our comfort zone; maybe that is why I thrive best in unfamiliar environments. I was rejected by my dream school, Accra Academy, which led me to Christian Methodist, a school I never thought of attending: a strange land. But this alien land made me an independent, innovative, and dynamic person with no phobia of uncharted environments. I became a resourceful and passionate student with big dreams of revolutionizing the world of biochemistry and exploring new and effective ways of diagnosing and treating autoimmune and genetic diseases. And now, I am one step closer to my dream.
I want to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU to my brother, my mentor, and motivator, Abdul Rahim Mumuni, for helping me to nurture my potential; I appreciate your guidance and support. I am grateful to my greatest supporter and source of inspiration; my mother, Aisha. I am also grateful to YAF Ghana and its staff, especially Mr. Elvis, for facilitating my transition from Christian Methodist to Vassar College and giving me a chance to live up to my potential. I dedicate this achievement to my comrade Lemuel Agur who introduced me to YAF Ghana and persuaded me to apply; I am full of gratitude. Alhamdulillah!!!!
To all the hands that carved me to succeed, words cannot express my gratitude. As I take my next step into the new chapter of my life, I reinforce the fact that indeed with hardship comes ease while keeping in mind that greatness begins beyond our comfort zone.
Greatness is a choice, and I choose to achieve greatness at Vassar. Brewers, here I come!!!
