Today, we’re celebrating the incredible achievements of Caleb Kwakye, a graduate of Opoku Ware School (AKATAKYIE) and the Young Achievers Foundation Ghana Scholars program. Caleb was selected as a Richmond Scholar out of over 10,000 highly qualified applicants.
The Richmond Scholars Program is the most prestigious undergraduate program at the University of Richmond in Virginia, United States. As a scholar, Caleb will receive a full 4-year scholarship valued at approximately $281,000.00 which will cover his comprehensive cost of education as well as his flights to and from the school.
We’re not surprised by Caleb’s tremendous achievements. As a scholar at YAF Ghana, Caleb demonstrated incredible maturity and a sense of purpose. His love for climate issues, global affairs, and politics shined brightly in all of his conversations. He spearheaded the Youth for Climate Action (Youth4CA), a youth-led program aimed at mobilizing youth to lead the fight against climate change through environmental education and sensitization.
At the University of Richmond, Caleb hopes to pursue International Relations and Political Science with a focus on climate change policies. He also hopes to expand the Youth for Climate Action program to every high school in Ghana.
We’re incredibly honored to have had Caleb as a scholar in our program. He’s truly a global leader in the making.
YAF Ghana supports academically ambitious, low-income Ghanaian high school graduates to gain full scholarships to study in top colleges and universities in the United States and in Ghana. It is our belief that with the right supports, every student holds the potential to succeed in college and become an instrument of change in their communities.
